ABOUT JILL

Jill Johnson is an editorial, advertising, and fine arts photographer based in Fort Worth, Texas.

She specializes in portraits, travel, food, landscapes, and furry friends. Her clients include magazines, families, small businesses, corporations, universities, realtors, and book publishers.

For more than a decade, she was an award-winning photographer for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. She then jumped ship to photograph cats in wigs for Chronicle Books called Glamourpuss: The Enchanting World of Kitty Wigs.

Born in Muleshoe, and raised in Houston, Jill spent summers working on the family farms in Bushland and Muleshoe, before going to the University of Texas in Austin where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, with an emphasis in photojournalism.

My passion for photography stemmed from the landscapes of my childhood. I spent summers driving a tractor, tending cattle, harvesting wheat and moving irrigation pipe,” she says. “I remember the moment when I knew that taking pictures would be my life’s passion. I was on the farm and my heart has always been there.”

Jill lives with her husband Brian and son Gus, rescue pup Darlene, 5 Polish chickens, Elvis, Bruiser, Dotty, Dusty and Nugget and Timmy Nacho, a Western box turtle.
